Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 1 : Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh on Wednesday alleged that HD Kumaraswamy and some Bharatiya Janata Party leaders were behind the release of the pen drive in JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna's sex videos case.
Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, Suresh said, "Kumaraswamy and some BJP leaders had information about Prajwal Revanna's pen drive before anyone else. They are trying to blame it on DK Shivakumar to save themselves."
"His alliance leaders and Kumaraswamy are involved. Kumaraswamy knew about this in advance, so he did not openly tell Prajwal to correct it. Revanna himself has admitted that these videos are four years old. His family members have given statements one by one on this matter, why should anyone else be blamed?" he said.
On being asked about Kumaraswamy's statement that DK Shivakumar was behind the release of Prajwal Revanna's pen drive, the Congress leader said that Kumaraswamy can't live without taking DK Shivakumar's name every day.
"Is Kumaraswamy's accusation important here, or is it important to provide protection and justice to the more than 500 victims? Every day, they keep making statements to cover up their lies. We should think about those who have been wronged. Tell me on which issue Kumaraswamy is not criticising Shivakumar," he said.
Speaking about Prajwal Revanna's suspension from the JDS party, DK Suresh said that Janata Dal (Secular) is the property of Deve Gowda's family.
"It is his family's party. They are suspended whenever they want, and they are admitted to the party whenever they want. Janata Dal is the property of Deve Gowda's family," he said.
Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to take action to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal Revanna, Janata Dal (Secular) MP, who is said to have flown to Europe after being accused of sexually exploiting several women.
A political row has erupted over the case pertaining to Prajwal Revanna and his "having left the country" and the claims of some opposition parties that he had gone to Germany.
Revanna was booked in an alleged sexual harassment case on April 28 following complaints by his former housekeeper. The case has been registered under sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the IPC on charges of sexual harassment, intimidation, and outraging the dignity of a woman.
