"Attacks are unacceptable": Tripura Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha condemns attacks on party workers

Agartala (Tripura) [India], May 20 : Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha disclosed that the Rajya Bappi organizational meeting of the Congress is actively progressing, as directed by the central leadership.
However, the meeting's conclusion was marred by violence, with BJP workers allegedly attacking Congress members on their way home from the event.
"These attacks are unacceptable and a blatant attempt to intimidate our workers," stated Saha, expressing strong condemnation of the incidents. He assured that the Congress remains undeterred and committed to its organizational efforts.
Saha also outlined the party's strategic plans post-meeting. "Following our organizational meetings in each block, we will address various issues, including those concerning Hazrat Al-Kheedina. The Pradesh Congress is preparing to launch a larger movement programmes," he announced, indicating a robust response to both internal party strengthening and broader political activism.
In a related development, Congress MLA Sudeep Roy Barman criticized the central government over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). "The CAA is a discriminatory policy that goes against the fundamental principles of our constitution. The central government's stance on this issue has been disappointing and harmful," Burman asserted.
The press conference concluded on a positive note for the Congress party, as three tribal leaders from different political affiliations officially joined the party. The new members were welcomed by Ashish Kumar Saha and Sudeep Roy Barman, who handed them party flags in a ceremonial gesture.
This infusion of new leadership, coupled with the planned movement programmes, reflects the Congress party's resolve to expand its influence and address pressing issues within the region.
