Panaji (Goa) [India], January 8 : Taking strong objection to the statement of BJP leader and Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar that Congress is using 'divide and rule' policy, former chief of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Girish Chodankar, has advised Chandrasekhar to introspect and recognize who is genuinely dividing people over religion.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, during his visit to Sanguem in South Goa, said, "There is no place for Congress in Goa; they have no capabilities to work for the nation. They have only one political tactic, which is divide and rule."
Girish Chodankar said " BJP should introspect and peep deep to check who is dividing people over religion".

"BJP is baffled to see increasing support for the Congress as people are suffering from the pain of divide and rule policy by the saffron party. They have wings that are instigating people to fight against minorities in the name of religion. Goa is known for communal harmony and we (Hindus and minorities) stay together here. BJP leaders should stop playing politics over such issues, as people will not fall prey to their tactics. Goans have understood the fake love of BJP leaders towards 'Hindutva' on the day when they 'bought' Congress MLAs who had betrayed Goa," Chodankar said.

"If BJP really wanted communal harmony to remain in the country, then Manipur would not have suffered. Many had to lose their lives and properties damaged as the 'double engine' government failed to have control over the situation. It is irony that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who spends crores on his visits to foreign countries, failed to visit Manipur, which is part of our country," Chodankar pointed out.

Chodankar further advised BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar to check the debt of Goa and then speak about the progress.
"Fearing to lose the Lok Sabha election, BJP is spreading false narratives. It has miserably failed to provide safety to women, employment to youths, control inflation and help our farmers. Goa is also reeling from similar issues and our farmers from Bahujan Samaj are in pain as the only sugar factory in Goa was closed four years ago. This is an example to show how BJP displays fake numbers of development," Chodankar said.

He said that the people of Goa are aware of how the BJP government has done corruption in Kala Academy, national games, conversion of lands, corruption in the public distribution system, and jobs for sale.
