"Both Congress, TRS are afraid of Owaisi": Amit Shah in Telangana

May 05, 2024

Adilabad (Telangana) [India], May 5 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi and said that both the parties are afraid of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.
While addressing a public meeting in Adilabad, Shah said, "Can TRS save Telangana from Razakars? No. Both Congress and TRS are afraid of Owaisi. The 'ABC' of appeasement in Telangana means A for Asaduddin Owaisi, B for BRS, and C for Congress. The Congress party which is afraid of Owaisi cannot work for the welfare of Telangana."
The Home Minister said that, unlike the Congress, the BJP has a vision, accomplishments, and will.
"From abrogating Article 370 to ending 'Triple Talaq', from building modern infrastructure to ensuring the best healthcare, the Modi government has been on a steadfast resolve to build Viksit Bharat. Unlike Congress, we have a vision, we have accomplishments, and we have a will,' he said.
He further promised the people of Telangana that once the BJP is voted to power, the party will end the reservation given to Muslims and will instead give reservation benefits to Dalits and Adivasis in the state.
"Once voted to power, we will end the Muslim reservations in Telangana and will instead give reservation benefits to Dalits and Adivasis in the state. The Congress party has snatched the rights of SCs, STs and OBCs to give the same to Muslims. But I assure you that we will undo this injustice," Shah said.
"Ensure that it's the NDA government again for the next third time. Having an NDA government means making Bharat the world's third-largest economy and making Bharat a developed and prosperous nation," he added.
Hitting out at the Congress party, the Home Minister said that the former never fulfilled the promises it made.
"The Congress party used to stall every development, and never fulfilled the promises it made. But when Modi Ji came to power, the way India embraced transformation was unprecedented. Building Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was a long pending dream and something which the Congress party was unwilling to do. But under Modi Ji, we became blessed to see the pious Pran Pratishtha of Prabhu Ram in Ayodhya," he said.
Alleging that the Congress denied the invitation for Pran Prathistha of Lord Ram in Ayodhya for their vote bank, Shah said, "Rahul Baba and Kharge ji were given an invitation (for Pran Prathistha) but they did not go. They did not go because they were scared of their vote bank. Who is their vote bank? Their vote bank isn't the Adivasi. Asaduddin Owaisi and their (Congress) vote bank is the same."
He further expressed confidence that the BJP will win more seats in Telangana in the Lok Sabha polls in 2024, as compared to 2014 and 2019.
"Two phases of elections have concluded. In the two phases PM Modi has made a century and moved forward. In the third phase, we will reach around 200 and by the time voting is held in Telangana, BJP will cross 250. BJP has increased their vote share in every election in Telangana. In 2014, we got only one seat, in 2019 we got four seats and in 2024 we will get more than ten seats," Shah said.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) (now known as the BRS) won 9 seats, the BJP secured 4 seats, the Congress won 3 seats, and the AIMIM emerged victorious in 1 seat.
The voting of the first and second phases was concluded and the next round of voting will be held on May 7. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
