Begusarai (Bihar) [India], April 29 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that no one has dared to throw a single stone in Jammu and Kashmir as opposed to the leader's warning that "rivers of blood" will be flowing in the state if Article 370 is abrogated.
"When PM Modi became the Prime Minister for the second time, he abrogated Article 370 on August 5, 2019. When I was there to present the Bill for abrogating Article 370 in Parliament, Some said that if Article 370 is removed, rivers of blood will flow in Kashmir. Today I have come to tell him that no one has dared to throw a single stone in five years, let alone rivers of blood," Shah said speaking at a public meeting at Bihar's Begusarai.
PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti had said that rivers of blood will flow if Article 370 is abrogated.
Attacking Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly saying that people of Rajasthan and Bihar have no connection with people from Kashmir, Shah said, "Isn't Kashmir ours? Congress president (Mallikarjun) Kharge says that what Rajasthan and Bihar have to do with Kashmir. You have crossed 80 years of age but do not have much idea about this country. Every child in Bihar can sacrifice his life for Kashmir."
The Union Home Minister also claimed that the Congress party in alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal had "nurtured" Article 370 like their "illegitimate child."
"Wasn't it the need to remove Article 370? The Congress party and Lalu Yadav were nurturing Article 370 like their illegitimate child for 70 years," Shah said.
Begusarai will be voting on May 13 in the fourth phase.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has pitted Union Minister Giriraj Singh against INDIA bloc candidate and Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Awadhesh Kumar Rai in Begusarai.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Giriraj Singh defeated CPI's Kanhaiya Kumar from Begusarai with a margin of 4,22,217.
