Jharsuguda (Odisha) [India], May 11 : BJD Leader and 5T Chairman VK Pandian performed 'Akhi Muthi Anukula' at Bijapali village of Brajrajnagar assembly constituency in Jharsuguda district on Friday.
The occasion marks the commencement of agriculture works on the Akshaya Tritiya in Odisha.
Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days celebrated by Hindus and Jains across the country. The day is symbolic of good luck, success and fortune.
Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated through prayer, almsgiving, and spirituality. The day is considered to be highly lucky for starting new businesses, making investments, and buying gold and real estate.
In Sanskrit, the word 'Akshaya' means 'never diminishing'. It is said that things that start on this day expand forever with fewer obstacles in their way, and that doing good deeds on this day will bring eternal success and fortune.
The occasion is celebrated on the third day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaisakh. According to the Gregorian calendar, this day falls sometime in April-May. It is on this day that both the sun and the moon are said to be at their planetary best alignment.
The day is also known as 'Akha Teej' and was celebrated on May 10 this year. It is believed that tasks done on this auspicious day are blessed by divine powers and always prove beneficial. It is considered to be an auspicious day to bring home precious metals like gold and silver for prosperity. It was the day when the third of the four Yugas - Treta Yuga began.
Interestingly, the festival also marks the birth anniversary of Parashurama (6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu). It is also believed that Lord Krishna handed Draupadi a Patra (container) in which food appeared in abundance during the period when Pandavas were exiled to forests.
Earlier, BJD leader and 5T Chairman VK Pandian expressed confidence that the party will have a 90 per cent strike rate in the first phase of Lok Sabha and assembly polls on May 13 and create a record.
He appealed to people to make it a 100 per cent strike rate in the next three phases of assembly polls.
"BJD will create a record in the first phase election in Odisha for four Lok Sabha and 28 Vidhan Sabha seats. BJD will win these seats with a 90 per cent strike rate," he said.
He alleged that the BJP has made fake promises in 2014 and 2019 election manifestos. He said they have come up with another manifesto for the 2024 polls and people don't have faith in their manifesto.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Pandian had targeted the BJP and said if the party declares its CM candidate in the state against Naveen Patnaik, the BJD's victory will be much larger and the opposition party will not cross single digits.
Voting will be held simultaneously in four phases for Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Odisha beginning May 13. Twenty-eight assembly seats and four Lok Sabha seats will go to the polls in the first phase.
