"Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav had to leave...": Congress leader Rewati Raman Singh after public rally in UP's Phulpur turned uncontrollable

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 19 : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav had to abruptly exit a public rally in Phulpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday after the crowd became uncontrollable.
The leaders, out for the poll campaign ahead of the fifth phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh's Phulpur, had to rush out of the event owing to security reasons due to the large turnout.
Congress leader Rewati Raman Singh explained the situation, stating, "The crowd had become too large, and there weren't enough police officers, which caused the crowd to become uncontrollable and rush the stage. As a result, Akhilesh Ji and Rahul Ji had to leave without giving their speeches." He attributed the lack of adequate security to the police being engaged in election duties elsewhere.
When questioned about the coordination between Congress and Samajwadi Party workers, Singh emphasized the sheer size of the crowd as the primary cause of the chaos.
Commenting on the BJP's ambitious target of "400 paar" seats, Singh remarked, "These rallies show what the people want. These people intend to change the Constitution, and they have already said so, which is why they are shouting '400 Paar'. The people themselves are fighting this election to save the Constitution and to protect reservations."
The rally, part of the poll campaign, highlighted the strategic alliance between Congress and the Samajwadi Party. Singh confirmed, "This is a strategy because both are in an alliance. The Samajwadi Party and Congress have an alliance."
Singh expressed confidence in the INDIA alliance's prospects, predicting a strong performance. "The INDIA alliance will form the government. Rahul Gandhi will also win from Raebareli, and there is hope for Congress's victory in Amethi as well."
On his son Ujjwal Raman Singh's candidacy for the Prayagraj seat, Singh was optimistic. "After 40 years, Congress's withered hand will now be seen blooming." He hinted at a significant change, stating, "Whenever Allahabad changes, change happens in Delhi as well. This election is being fought by the people."
While Singh avoided making precise predictions about the number of seats the INDIA alliance might secure in Uttar Pradesh, he suggested they could win around 40 seats.
Rewati Raman Singh, a seasoned politician, has served as an MLA eight times, an MP of the Lok Sabha twice, and an MP of the Rajya Sabha once. His son, Ujjwal Raman Singh, is currently the Congress candidate from Prayagraj.
BJP has fielded Neeraj Tripathi, son of former Governor of West Bengal and Speaker of UP Legislative Assembly Keshari Nath Tripathi, from the Allahabad Lok Sabha seat.
Polling in the constituency will take place in the sixth phase of the ongoing elections on May 25.
