1 killed, 9 injured in clash between two groups in Maharashtra's Satara; section 144 imposed

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], September 11 : A man was killed while nine others were injured after a clash broke out between two groups in Maharashtra's Satara district late on Sunday night, police said. 
After the incident, in Satara's Pusesawali village following an objectionable social media post.
This prompted the district authorities to order for immediate suspension of internet services across the district and the imposition of restrictions under section 144. 
According to Sunil Phulari, Special Inspector-General of Police (Kolhapur Range), "The incident occurred in Pusesawali village in Khatao tehsil on Sunday night, resulting in one person being dead and nine injured." 

The injured are currently receiving medical treatment, he said, adding that during the clash several police personnel were also injured. 

The senior police officer stated that the police promptly responded to the situation, and the situation is now under control.
"As a precautionary measure, we have suspended internet services in the district and issued prohibitory orders and urged the public not to fall for any rumours," the IG said. 
He added that adequate police personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident and keep the situation under control. "Relevant offence has been registered under stringent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and a total of 23 suspects have been taken into custody," he added.
