AIUDF is BJP's "B-team", alleges Assam Congress Chief

Assam [India], September 14 : All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is the "B-team" of the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleged the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Jakir Hussain Sikdar.
However, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal had recently expressed support for the Opposition bloc, INIDA.
Speaking to ANI, APCC Chief and MLA Sikdar on Wednesday said, "Everyone knows what is the relation between AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, they share a good relation. Badruddin Ajmal is saying that he will go with INDIA, but our leadership has denied accepting Badruddin Ajmal and his party. Badruddin Ajmal is a political leader, but he is also a businessman. We can't trust him."
The Congress leader went on to say that in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress will show a better performance in Assam, and the party will never forge an alliance with Badruddin Ajmal. "We are working on how to throw out the BJP and AIUDF," Sikdar said.
Notably, Assam government on Wednesday formed a committee to draft legislation for banning polygamy and inter-religious marriage by false identity and the role of 'Kaji' in the matter of child marriage.
Attacking Assam CM, AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam on Wednesday said, "Bharatiya Janata Party is doing this only to do politics ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections."
The AIUDF MLA said that the stand of AIUDF head Badruddin Ajmal on polygamy would be decided after seeing the Bill.
"I personally do not support polygamy, inter-religious marriage by false identity, or child marriage. But there should be some provisions to allow the husband to marry another woman if the first wife is suffering from a critical disease and is not able to take care of herself and she allows her husband to marry another woman," Aminul Islam said.
He further said that the government should introduce an anti-rape bill to protect women, girls, and children. "I personally demanded on several occasions to bring this bill, but they didn't pay attention. They are only doing politics," the AIUDF leader added.
