"Assam to become country's hub of medical education": CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 1 : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday praised the medical education department of the state and said that the state will soon become the country's hub of medical education.
Taking to social media platform, 'X' (formerly Twitter), Sarma said, "Assam will soon become the country’s hub for medical education. We are on our way to have 2,000 MBBS seats and over 1,000 PG seats."
"3 newly built medical colleges have begun their academic sessions simultaneously. I joined the oath-taking ceremony in Nagaon," he added.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also said that the government's plan to establish a "cutting-edge health education ecosystem" will ensure accessible healthcare and abundant job opportunities to create a new health economy in the state.
His remarks came while addressing the third convocation of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati, where 815 students were awarded degrees of commendation.
"Our ambitious plan to establish a cutting-edge health education ecosystem will ensure accessible healthcare and abundant job opportunities to create a New Health Economy. At the third convocation of the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, we witnessed this transformative vision unfold," he said.
