"Atal ji as a leader lived by his words": Home Minister Amit Shah during Farmers' Conference in Rewa

Rewa (Madhya Pradesh) [India], December 25 : While participating in the Farmers' Conference on Natural Farming in Rewa on Thursday, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that the day is also the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and stated that Rewa was his favourite region. He also praised the former Prime Minister's attributes in his speech.
During the speech, he said, "Today is the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and this Rewa region was his favourite area... Atal Ji placed great importance not only on the BJP but also on the integrity of public life across the country and on transparency. Due to his work during his lifetime, Atal Ji came to be recognised as a leader who lived by his words. There are very few people whose statements and lives are the same. Atal Ji was a politician of that category. I pay heartfelt tribute to him."
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also participated in the Farmers' Conference. Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Yadav inaugurated the Natural Farming Project at Basaman Mama Cow Sanctuary at 3 pm, followed by their participation in the grand Farmers' Conference near the sanctuary, according to the official website of the state Public Relations Department of Madhya Pradesh.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and MLA Hemant Khandelwal also attended the event. The dignitaries also visited the Gaushala through e-carts and observed the exhibition organised by the Agriculture Department at the venue. Progressive farmers and those practising natural farming were honoured during the event.
The sanctuary was established to provide shelter for abandoned and sick cattle. Currently, it houses over 7,000 cows. The cow dung produced is used to make organic manure, cow wood, gonile and other products through the efforts of a voluntary organisation.
According to the official website of the state Public Relations Department, the Madhya Pradesh government has declared 2026 the Agriculture Year. Under this initiative, efforts will be coordinated to increase farmers' incomes, promote climate-resilient natural farming, ensure fair crop prices, focus on technological improvements and mechanisation, modernise agriculture through digital initiatives, encourage diversification in agriculture and allied sectors, and generate new employment opportunities through value addition.
