Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 12 : Union Minister and candidate from Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat Anurag Thakur taking a jibe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that Kejriwal can lie as much as he wants as he is out on interim bail but later he has to go jail once again.
Supreme Court on Friday gave interim bail to the Aam Aadmi Party convenor till June 1 in the Delhi liquor scam case for the election campaign. However, as per the terms of his bail, the Delhi Chief Minister cannot make any comment about his role in the case.
"The person who used to talk about the agitation against corruption is behind bars today, due to serious corruption charges. He is out on interim bail for a few days. Then, he has to go to jail again. Right now, he can lie as much as he wants, but the truth is that his ministers are in jail... Arvind Kejriwal is currently out on bail. There is nothing to celebrate in this," said Thakur while talking to ANI.
Further commenting on Kejriwal's '10 guarantees' for Lok Sabha polls he called Delhi CM's guarantees "fake as his earlier works".
"His guarantees are as fake as his earlier works. He is preparing to lose the election. So no matter how many fake announcements he makes, people do not trust him," Anurag Thakur told ANI.
Pointing out that Kejriwal did not consult other leaders from the INDIA bloc parties, Anurag Thakur accused the alliance of having no cohesion and policy.
"He has not even taken his alliance partners into confidence. We had already said that this alliance has no leader, no policy and there is a flaw in the intentions too. These are the people who used to talk against corruption and are now doing corruption themselves," he added.
Congress has pitched former Una MLA Satpal Raizada from Hamirpur against Thakur.
Thakur won the Hamirpur constituency in 2019, by securing 68,2692 votes while 28,3120 votes were polled in favour of Ram Lal Thakur of the INC. Anurag Singh Thakur clinched a landslide victory with a margin of 39,9572 votes.
Hamirpur will undergo polls on June 1 in the last phase of Lok Sabha polls and results will be declared.
