Centre bulldozing federal structure: Mamata Banerjee in Delhi

Dec 18, 2023

New Delhi [India], December 18 : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Centre of "bulldozing the federal structure" and alleged that when Opposition raises questions, they either get expelled or raids are conducted on them.
"They are bulldozing the federal structure. They are snatching away everything from the poor people. The poor people are hungry and they are very angry," the West Bengal CM said.
She further asked to show how many BJP people were raided.
"When we raise the issue, that's when everybody is suspended, expelled or an income tax raid, CBI raid or ED raid. You show me how many BJP persons are raided. 'Chor, Daku'," she said.
Moreover, Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the school jobs scam.
The Trinamool leader has been summoned by the agency in connection with cases, both by the ED and CBI, multiple times.
The ED had earlier summoned the Diamond Harbour MP to appear before it on October 9, after he skipped the October 3 summons to participate in a Trinamool Congress protest rally in the national capital, demanding immediate release of central funds due to the State.
The school job scam, wherein appointments in State-run schools were made illegally for monetary gains, has rocked West Bengal politics since July 2023.
Several leaders of the Trinamool Congress, including former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, are behind bars for their alleged involvement in the scam.
