New Delhi [India], July 14 : Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications, Jairam Ramesh, on Monday intensified the party's attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging silence over the alleged irregularities related to the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

"Charity Theft, Faith Betrayed. What does Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mysterious silence signify regarding the meticulously planned charity theft carried out by the BJP-RSS in the Lord Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the betrayal of public trust? Why is he so eager to aid the charity thieves?" Ramesh said.
The Congress leader further targeted the Prime Minister's 'zero tolerance' stance on corruption, pointing out that the issue has remained unaddressed for a month.
"The nation is asking why the Prime Minister, who claims 'zero tolerance' for corruption, has remained silent on this serious issue for the past month? The public is demanding answers from him for this breach of trust. Dear Prime Minister, break your silence, provide answers," he added.
"Over the past four days, Congress leaders have held 50 press conferences across various cities in the country on this crucial issue tied to the faith of the nation's citizens, demanding answers from the Prime Minister and calling for the real culprits to be put behind bars," Ramesh stated.
Meanwhile, an Ayodhya court on Monday extended the judicial custody of all eight accused in the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case by another 14 days.
The accused appeared before the court through video conferencing. They are now scheduled to appear again on July 27.
Earlier, investigating Officer Ashutosh Tiwari submitted to Ayodhya's Anti-Corruption Court evidence and documents collected during the remand period for three accused in connection with the case, according to sources.
The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Centre, the Uttar Pradesh government and the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust seeking response on pleas seeking an independent, court-monitored probe into the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya.
