Chief of Defence Staff talks about India's strategic autonomy, Aatmanirbhar Bharat

New Delhi [India], October 5 : General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Defence Staff on Thursday delivered the keynote address at the 5th General KV Krishna Rao Memorial Lecture in Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.
The memorial lecture is conducted every year to commemorate the legacy of Gen KV Krishna Rao, Former COAS, and former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and North Eastern States.
During the keynote address to senior military hierarchy, the Chief of Defence Staff mentioned that India is moving into an era of transformation that requires 'atmanirbharta' (self-reliance), especially in the defence sector.
Further, he also emphasised the need for tri-services synergy and integration amongst all three services.
Notable speakers including Ambassador Sujan Chinoy, Director General of Manohar Parrikar Insitute for Defence Studies and Analysis and Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd) also delivered a talk on 'India's Quest for Strategic Autonomy, Opportunities and Challenges in the Emerging World Order'.
While speaking to a diaspora of think tanks, military officers and veterans, both the speakers highlighted upon India's role as a regional power, with its growing economy and military strength.
They further elaborated India's strategic autonomy in its partnerships with major powers like the United States, Russia, and China for enhancing its economic growth, accessing advanced technology, and securing its national security interests.

Lt Gen C Bansi Ponnappa, Adjutant General of The Indian Army expressed his gratitude to The Chief of Defence Staff and both the speakers for delivering the lecture on the contemporary subject and promoting strategic thinking amongst the armed forces.
