Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], January 8 : BRS MLA and Working President Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao on Monday hit out at the newly formed Congress government in Telangana and said that the state government is trying to escape from the guarantees they promised during the election by showing the debt.
While addressing the Zaheerabad Parliament Constituency Preparatory Meeting ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, KT Rama Rao said, "We have won 39 seats out of 119 seats. This is not a less number. We have won one-third of the seats. We gave Dalit Bandhu to all in Nizam Sagar, but the other (caste)groups did not vote for us. Society has become such that if one gets assistance, the other gets jealous. The (negative) impact of 'Bandhu' schemes has fallen on us."
"Those who voted for Congress are now reconsidering. Even those who voted for Congress are sad that former chief minister and BRS chief, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) is not the Chief Minister. The admiration for KCR is still unwavering. Earlier, the word Telangana was banned in the past. BRS is alone fighting for Telangana. If BRS is not strong, there are parties ready to vanish the word Telangana again," he added.
Hitting out at the Congress government in the state, the BRS leader said, "The Congress government is trying to escape from the guarantees by showing the debt. They are cancelling the schemes we brought. The Parliament elections will be a triangular fight. In this, the conditions are favourable for us. There was a strong opinion that it would be better if the sitting MLAs were changed in the assembly elections. Let's not allow such mistakes to happen in Parliament elections. We will win the Zaheerabad parliament seat."
"In 2009, we won only ten assembly seats. However, within 6 months, the situation had changed because of KCR's protest activities. The respect for the pink flag increased a lot. In 1985-89, NTR brought many good schemes but lost the elections that followed. TDP which lost in 1989 then won 19 out of 21 MP seats," he added.
He stated that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wants to set up a commission to reduce the number of districts. Will people agree to this?
"We are not in a hurry to criticize government but it is Congress who started the attack first by belittling the development we have done. There is no question of just letting it go when the Congress leaders criticize us," Rao added.
