"Congress never hesitated to divide country and break it into pieces for its temporary benefits," Shehzad Poonawalla

New Delhi [India], March 31 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Congress alleging that the grand old party harbors a divisive agenda ingrained in its very DNA.
Poonawalla asserted that the Congress party consistently prioritizes its own political ambitions and familial interests over national interests.
"The DNA of the Congress Party is to divide India. This is the party that has always put its ambitions and family interests above national interests. This is the party that has never hesitated to divide the country and break it into pieces for its temporary benefits," he said.
Poonawalla also accused the grand old party and its leader of being involved in a constant conspiracy to ignite discord within the country, divide it, and defame its democratic institutions.
"Those who gather at Ramlila Maidan and talk about saving the country by putting a dot in the name of the country are actually trying to save their family and corruption. They constantly conspire to ignite the country, divide it, partition it, and defame its democratic institutions by creating doubt," he said.
The BJP spokesperson also alleged that the Congress Party has been using a strategy to divide and rule from 1947 to 2024.
He also claimed that Rahul Gandhi's party has tried to split the country by using religion, caste, and language, just like the British did. Poonawalla further alleges that Gandhi denies India's status as a nation and seeks foreign intervention, undermining India's sovereignty.
"The continuous politics and strategy of the Congress Party from 1947 to 2024 have only been to divide and rule. In 1947, they partitioned the country on the basis of religion, and today, when the prince of the first family of Congress (Rahul Gandhi) comes out into the country, sometimes in the name of caste, sometimes in the name of language, and sometimes he and his colleagues divide the country on the name of north and south, meaning they adopt the same mentality of divide and rule policy as the British. The prince (Rahul Gandhi) even denies considering the country as a nation, saying "India is not a nation" and demands intervention from foreign land to undermine India's sovereignty within India," he said.
While speaking about the Kachchatheevu island, Poonawalla labelled the decision of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to hand over the Kachchatheevu island to Sri Lanka without any discussion or consent as a significant blow to India's solidarity. According to him, Kachchatheevu is not just a piece of land but a significant part of Bharat Mata.
"The reply of RTI that was filed by Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai... Some notings have come to light that will stagger the nation today...In 1974, under the incumbency of Indira Gandhi and then Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi; an order was sent from the end of Indira Gandhi to Karunanidhi to hand over Kachchatheevu island to Sri Lanka with an immediate effect. Without any discussion or consent, a big step was taken against the solidarity of India...It (Kachchatheevu) was not just a piece of land, but a significant part of Bharat Mata," he said.
