Congress Seva Dal workers clean Jantar Mantar after CJP protest ends, say "real mess that needs to be cleaned is within govt"

New Delhi [India], July 26 : Congress Seva Dal workers on Sunday carried out a cleanliness drive at Jantar Mantar following the end of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest, saying they came to clean the site as part of their responsibility towards the children and youth who had gathered there.
Delhi State President of the Women's Congress Seva Dal Rajkumari Gupta said the workers reached Jantar Mantar early in the morning and began cleaning the area.
"We arrived here at 5:30 AM and started cleaning at 6:00 AM. We came here to clean because our children had been protesting here for many days. They are our children, your children, the children of this country," Gupta told ANI.
She said the presence of thousands of people at the protest site had resulted in waste being left behind.
"With so many thousands of people here, there was bound to be litter, like plastic bags and waste from what they ate and drank. It is our duty, as per the instructions of our leader and our national president, who is also here with us. We feel it's our responsibility to clean up the mess left by our children, as they are part of our nation's future," she said.
Delhi State President of the Congress Seva Dal Young Brigade Bhushan Goyal said serving people and helping in times of need was the organisation's mission.
"This is what the Congress Seva Dal does. Whether it's helping flood victims or cleaning up where there is dirt and waste, our mission is to serve. The Congress Seva Dal is always ready to step in and help. We are acting on Rahul Gandhi's orders to ensure cleanliness and service, and that's why we are here today," Goyal told ANI.
Sangeeta Kankariya, Women's Chief of the Congress Seva Dal from Madhya Pradesh, said the organisation had supported the protesters during their agitation by providing food, water and umbrellas during the monsoon rains.
Kankariya said the protest was not limited to the NEET paper leak issue and claimed that several other concerns remained.
"Today, Seva Dal is cleaning up, but the real mess that needs to be cleaned is within the government. We pray to God to give them some wisdom. The cleaning should happen within the power structure, as there are many issues," she told ANI.
She further raised concerns over the cost of LPG cylinders and ration and unemployment among the youth.
"Look, we don't receive orders in Seva Dal. We work based on guidance. We have an ideology. Wherever there is a mess, we clean it," Kankariya said.
The cleanliness drive came after the CJP called off its agitation at Jantar Mantar on Saturday in "good faith" following assurances from the government on its demands.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) had also conducted a midnight cleanliness drive at Jantar Mantar and adjoining areas after protesters vacated the site.
NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal said sanitation and washing teams were deployed to clean and restore the area.
The CJP's agitation ended following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after over a month of protests, including a 26-day hunger strike by activist Sonam Wangchuk.
CJP said the government had agreed to provide suitable compensation to the families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide and assured the withdrawal of FIRs lodged against protesters across the country.
Following the end of the agitation, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also announced that entry and exit gates at all stations across the Delhi Metro network had been opened for passengers.
