Chandigarh [India], December 19 : Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said that he "couldn't see anything serious" in the no-confidence motion against his government and took potshots at Congress leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Rahul Gandhi.
Replying to the debate on the no-confidence motion, Saini said that even the opposition acknowledges that inflation has been controlled in the estate.
"When I read the motion, I couldn't see anything serious. In this no-confidence motion, the word 'inflation' was not used for the first time. This means that even the opposition believes that there has been control on inflation in the 11 years of the Modi government."
Haryana Assembly took up a no-confidence motion moved by Congress against the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP government in the state earlier in the day.
The Chief Minister said the state government is continually working to uplift people's lives, drawing inspiration from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's Antyodaya philosophy.
"Following the vision given by the Prime Minister, and drawing constant inspiration from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's Antyodaya philosophy, we are working to uplift the lives of the last person in society...I am saying this with great pride in this House today, that we will fulfil our vision of a developed Haryana even before the year 2047," he said.
"It is in the DNA of the Congress party to level allegations. They even said that the Ram Setu is imaginary," he added.
The Chief Minister said the government has taken firm action against criminals.
"Since I assumed the responsibility of serving the people of Haryana, I have clearly stated that there is no place for criminals on the soil of Haryana. Either the criminals mend their ways, or they leave Haryana...Since I took charge of Haryana, our police have brought back seven criminals who had committed crimes in the state and fled abroad, from Thailand, the Philippines, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, and the USA, and put them behind bars," he said.
Saini said the no-confidence motion did not have the signature of Hooda and asked if Congress "does not trust him".
"I welcomed the Leader of the Opposition, Bhupinder Singh Hooda yesterday. He emotionally remarked that he had never seen a Leader of the Opposition being welcomed in such a manner before... But less than two hours later, the opposition brought a no-confidence motion... So I carefully read the notice... and when I read it, I noticed that it didn't have the signature of the Leader of the Opposition... Either our Leader of the Opposition still doesn't consider himself a part of the Opposition... Maybe the Congress doesn't trust him," he said.
The Haryana Chief Minister also responded to Rahul Gandhi's "vote chori" allegations.
"Rahul Gandhi held a lengthy press conference alleging vote rigging. He specifically targeted Haryana. I said in my press conference that someone wrote a script and gave it to Rahul Gandhi. In the assembly constituency where Rahul Gandhi alleged vote rigging, the Congress party won both the assembly and parliamentary elections. Rahul Gandhi claimed that 223 votes were created using the same photo at two booths. In that assembly constituency, the Congress MLA has won," he said.
The two booths that were mentioned, the Lok Sabha MP from there is also from the Congress party. I don't understand who is writing this fake script for Rahul Gandhi. I think attention should also be paid to those who are giving this fake script to Rahul Gandhi," he added.
Saini said Union Home Minister Amit Shah will unveil Atal Bihari Vajpayee's statue at Atal Park in Panchkula on November 24.
"On December 24, on the eve of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will unveil Atal Bihari Vajpayee's statue at Atal Park, MDC, Sector-1, Panchkula. I invite everyone to participate in that occasion," he said.
