"Didn't bowl, field the way we wanted": RCB skipper Mandhana after 25-run loss to DC

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], February 29 : Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Smriti Mandhana believes that the team fell short on the bowling front during their 25-run loss against Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Women's Premier League 2024.
RCB tottered in the final five overs after dropping two golden chances in the initial phase of the game.
Shafali Verma was dropped by Shreyanka on the final ball of the first over and she went on to score 50. Sophie Devine dropped the catch of the power striker Alice Capsey who went on to score 46.
RCB missed their line and length in the final part of the game as DC amassed 70 runs in the final five overs losing just a single wicket.
"The way we bowled in the first two matches, we didn't live up to that with our bowling. But one bad day in such a tournament happens, we have to come back strongly. They were plus 15 but we are in the game, but the chat was if myself and Sophie bat till the 14th over then we have a chance," Mandhana said after the game
Jess Jonassen (36*), Marizanne Kapp (32) and Arundhati Reddy (10*) picked up boundaries for fun. Jess and Reddy stayed till the end and stitched up a 22-run partnership in just nine balls. Jess struck out six on the final ball of the inning to power DC to a score of 194/5.
"We won't be too critical, we didn't bowl and field the way we wanted, it happens but we move on," she added.
Coming to the match, while chasing a target of 195, RCB got off to a flying start with Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine firing all cylinders.
However, after Devine's departure, RCB's middle order crumbled like a house of cards allowing DC to make an unprecedented comeback in the game.
RCB needed 45 runs in the final five overs, DC's clinical bowling helped them to clinch a 25-run victory.
