(Kerala) [India], April 20 : Back at her base after braving the heat and dust of the campaign trail, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had a heartfelt conversation with a 93-year-old woman over the phone in Thrissur, Kerala, on Saturday.
A few years ago, Priyanka met Rozy in Delhi, where the latter works as a manager at a firm that is in the business of interior decoration. Rozy's 93-year-old mother, who calls herself as a big admirer of Priyanka, always had a desire to speak to her.
Away from all attention and public adulation on the campaign trail in Thrissur, Priyanka took some time out to call up Rozy's mother and engage in a heart-to-heart conversation with her.
The excitement in Rozy's mother's voice was infectious as Priyanka, one of the Congress's heavyweight campaigners in the Lok Sabha polls, chatted her up.
In a video shared by Priyanka's office, she was seen smiling into the camera as she face-timed with Roza's mother.
A sitting MP and Congress candidate from Pathanamthitta, Anto Antony, moderated the conversation between Priyanka and Rozy's mother.
The 93-year-old spoke to the Congress leader in Malayalam.
As Priyanka asked about her well-being, Rozy's mother said, "I don't know English but I am delighted at this opportunity talk to you."
Recalling what her daughter told her about meeting Priyanka, Rozy's mother said, "She has had a good and long relationship with Priyanka. She told me everything about the equations she shares with her."
Priyanka enquired where she lives, to which Rozy's mother replied that she has been living in Thrissur for the better part of her 93 years.
She added that she cast her vote on the last day of availing the home-voting facility for senior citizens and lives with her son Roy.
"I'm 93. I cast my vote yesterday at home. My son Roy takes care of me here. Rozy lives in Delhi. I do visit her, every now and then, in Delhi," she said.
Priyanka then invited her to a one-on-one meeting in Delhi and while also wishing her good health. Rozy's mother expressed her happiness at having face-timed with Priyanka and promised to see her on her next visit to Delhi.
Earlier in the day, the Congress general secretary held a roadshow in Thiruvananthapuram, as she canvassed for votes for sitting MP and the party's candidate from the constituency, Shashi Tharoor.
"We will provide you all (fishermen) with insurance cover. We have also guaranteed a legal guarantee of MSP (minimum support price) for farmers on their produce.
