New Delhi [India], November 5 : Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Wednesday backed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's voter fraud claims in Haryana Assembly elections, alleging a collusion between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission.
Referring to the case of a woman, who, as alleged by Rahul Gandhi, appeared to have voted 22 times across different booths with her image linked to a stock photograph of a Brazilian model, Priyanka Chaturvedi asked for answers from the poll body.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) MP alleged that the ECI, answering the previous "vote theft" allegations, has "read a script prepared by the BJP".
She told ANI, "This calls for the Election Commission to speak up. Every time, the Election Commission has read the script prepared by the headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The case of the Brazilian model is as clear as black and white. What is happening is a systematic way to gain power through undermining the Constitutional democratic process."
She added that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Maharashtra will present the proof of the alleged 96 lakh fake votes in the 2024 Assembly elections, at the "right time".
"There has been a very systematic way of taking away eligible voters and bringing in ineligible voters... Aaditya Thackeray also spoke about Maharashtra, his constituency. We have done research on Mumbai and realised that many voter additions and deletions have occurred, which we will bring out at the right time, and now we see in Haryana," Chaturvedi said.
Her remarks follow Rahul Gandhi's press conference, in which he stated that his team has clear proof that around 25 lakh voters in the state are either duplicates, non-existent, or manipulated in Haryana.
He said, "We have crystal clear proof that 25 lakh voters (in Haryana) are fake, that they either don't exist or they are duplicates or are designed in a way for anybody to vote...1 in 8 voters in Haryana are fake, that's 12.5 per cent."
Gandhi claimed that a woman appeared to have voted 22 times across different booths using multiple names.
He said the image linked to her was a stock photograph of a Brazilian model and that similar cases could involve up to 25 lakh records in the state.
"Congress lost the election by 22,000 votes. Who is this lady? She votes 22 times in Haryana, at 10 different polling booths. She has multiple names. That means this is a centralised operation...The lady is a Brazilian model. That's a stock photograph, and she is one of 25 lakh such records in Haryana," he said.
Meanwhile, sources within the Election Commission highlighted that there were zero appeals against the electoral rolls, with only 22 election petitions pending in the High Court for 90 assembly seats.
They asked why Congress polling agents did not object at polling stations if they suspected duplicate voters, whether Rahul Gandhi supports or opposes the process of the Special Intensive Revision of the voter lists that removes duplicates, dead, and shifted voters while verifying citizenship, and why no claims or appeals were filed by INC's BLAs during roll revisions to prevent multiple names.
