Patna (Bihar) [India], July 22 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday expressed shock over the sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and questioned whether the move was voluntary or politically orchestrated.
Speaking exclusively to ANI, Tejashwi Yadav questioned whether the resignation was voluntary or forced, highlighting that if health issues were the reason, Dhankhar could have stepped down before the session began.
He said, "On the first day of the monsoon session, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar conducted the House well, so his resignation at night is surprising. Now the question arises whether the resignation was given or taken. If it is about health, he could have resigned before the session. There are discussions that the resignation was taken, whether there is a reason or not, only he can explain better."
Yadav also took aim at the BJP for continuing to project Nitish Kumar as Bihar's Chief Minister despite his reported ill health.
He said, "CM Nitish Kumar is in an unconscious state. There are also reports about his health. If Jagdeep Dhankhar can resign, the question arises: What is the compulsion that BJP is making Nitish Kumar the face of the Chief Minister?"
"Bhagwan bharose Bihar chal raha hai.' The government and police are saying they cannot take responsibility for our safety. Crimes are happening continuously, people are scared, no one is listening," he added.
Reacting to speculation that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar could be considered for the Vice President's post, Yadav drew parallels with the political developments in Maharashtra.
"We feel that what happened with Jagdeep Dhankhar will happen with Nitish Kumar after the elections. What happened with Eknath Shinde in Maharashtra will happen with Nitish Kumar," he said.
The Bihar elections are scheduled for later this year.
