Gold seized from woman passenger at Cochin airport

Kochi (Kerala) [India], October 3 : Customs officers of the Cochin International Airport intercepted a woman passenger on Tuesday and seized gold that was found stitched inside the innerwear slip worn by her, said officers. 
The gold was found in compound form and it weighed 763 grams.
"On the basis of profiling done by the customs officers, a female passenger who had arrived from Abu Dhabi at Cochin International Airport by flight EY288 was intercepted at the green channel. During the examination of the said passenger, gold in compound form was found stitched inside the innerwear slip worn by the pax," said a statement issued by  Customs Cochin.
"The gold compound total weighing 763 grams and gold jewelry weighing 80.22 grams found concealed on her person were recovered and seized. Further investigations are going on," the statement added.
Officials of Customs Cochin said that gold Smuggling through the Cochin International Airport using women is on the rise. 
Yesterday, the officers had also intercepted one woman passenger and seized gold that was concealed in her rectum.
"On the basis of profiling, the officers of AIU batch, intercepted one lady passenger, who had arrived from Dubai to Kochi vide flight SG017. During the examination of the passenger, four cylindrical shaped capsules, suspected to contain Gold in compound form, a total weighing 1266.54 gm were found concealed in the rectum," said a statement issued on Monday by Customs Cochin. 
"The same has been seized under relevant sections of the Customs Act 1962. Further investigation in the case is under process," the statement added.
