Gujarat CM unveils "Smritivan, An Unparalleled Apotheosis of Commemoration to 2001 Victims of Gujarat Earthquake" coffee-table book

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], January 23 : Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled the book "Smritivan: An Unparalleled Apotheosis of Commemoration to 2001 Victims of Gujarat Earthquake" in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.
The coffee table book, published by the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) and unveiled by the Gujarat Chief Minister on Tuesday just before the 23rd anniversary of the Kutch earthquake on January 26 narrates the tale of the transformation of Bhujia Dungar following the 2001 earthquake.
It also captures the developmental journey of Gujarat under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
It is noteworthy that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a memorial and museum were established in memory of the earthquake victims, inaugurated by the Prime Minister in August 2022.
The book showcases the achievements of Smritivan on Bhujia Dungar, evolving from barren land into the world's largest Miyawaki Forest with a plantation of five and a half lakh trees.
Additionally, details about international accolades such as the 'Red Dot, 2023' Award, the 13th 'CII Design Excellence Award-2023,' 'London Design Award-2023,' and 'The Global Architecture Design Award Winner 2023' conferred upon the Smritivan Museum for its international architecture and exhibition design are also included in the book.
The Coffee Table book chronicles the reconstruction and redevelopment of the Kutch region, in vivid detail, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
This publication is a testament to the resilience of the people of Gujarat, showcasing their ability to create from adversity and transform calamity into opportunity, with the indomitable spirit of 'Khamir' (Strength) and 'Zamir' (Soul) of Kutch shining through.
The book launch was attended by Additional Chief Secretary to CM Pankaj Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department Manoj Kumar Das, CEO of GSDMA Anupam Anand, along with officials of GSDMA and Smritivan Memorial.
