Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 8 : With the nine-day festival of 'Navratri' around the corner, 'Garba' organisers have started preparations to ensure that participants get immediate treatment in case of any health emergency.
The organisers said that health facilities will be created at the venue of 'Garba' and a team of doctors will be stationed.
Ashish Amin, a garba organiser, said, "After COVID-19, the whole atmosphere has changed and people have become more health conscious. Navratri is a big religious festival for Gujarat. After Covid many children and young people are facing problems of heart attack. Karnavati Club has collaborated with Ahmedabad Medical Association and is arranging ICU on wheel and other primary paramedical treatment to ensure that the event is successful."
He further said that this was the first time they were arranging this kind of facility for those who would come here to play Garba.
Ahmedabad Medical Association president Dr Tushar Patel said, "I urge the Garba organisers to arrange for an ambulance at the event location and if possible arrange for the ICU on wheels. Secondly, they should keep a list ready before doctors of 'khelaiyas' (Garba participants). It is necessary for proper coordination with the government, police and local authorities."
He added that there should be an arrangement of drinking water at the location.
Garba player Jigna Nagar said, "After Covid, many people above 30 years are facing heart attack issues. I would suggest people to eat healthy food and drink more water."
The Navratri festival is going to be held from October 15 to October 24.
