"He is a true champion": PM Modi congratulates Neeraj Yadav on winning gold at Asian Para Games

Hangzhou [China], October 24 : After Neeraj Yadav clinched a gold medal in the Men's Discus Throw-F54/55/56 event at the ongoing Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded the discus thrower for his achievement.
Narendra Modi took to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account and said that Neeraj Yadav is a true champion.
PM Modi further added that Neeraj's exceptional success showcases his unwavering commitment and effort.
"Neeraj Yadav is a true champion. Congratulations @neerajy31401032 on the splendid Gold Medal win in Men's Discus Throw-F54/55/56 at the Asian Para Games. His exceptional success showcases his unwavering commitment and effort. India beams with pride because of this feat," Narendra Modi wrote on X.
Neeraj won a gold medal with a Personal Best throw of 38.56m (1014 points as per the Raza scaling system to secure). Kathuniya with a throw of 42.13 bagged silver while Muthuraja with a throw of 35.06 secured bronze.
Meanwhile, Rubina Francis clinched a bronze medal in P2 - Women's 10m Air Pistol SH1 Final Event. Indian runner Makanahalli Shankarappa Sharath blazed towards victory in the Men's 5000m T13 event, clocking an impressive 20:18.90 for a gold medal.
The Indian contingent will be keen to replicate the success of Day 1 as they ended with 17 medals - 6 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze.
This time India has sent 303 athletes - 191 men and 112 women - to the fourth edition of the Asian Para Games which is the largest contingent to the continental event.
At the 2018 Asian Para Games, India sent a total of 190 athletes and returned with 72 medals, including 15 gold, for their best performance at the quadrennial event.
