Himachal to launch statewide Anti-Chitta Walkathon on Nov 15

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], November 7 : Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the campaign against Chitta in Himachal Pradesh would be transformed into a mass movement, and the participation of every citizen of the state in this movement was most important. He was chairing a review meeting here today regarding preparations for the Anti-Chitta Walkathon, to be held in Shimla on 15 November,said the release.
The Chief Minister said that registration for participation in this walkathon could be done by scanning a barcode. Various awareness activities would be organized during the walkathon from Ridge to Chaura Maidan which would be participated by the youth, students and people from various sections of society.
CM Sukhu directed the relevant departments to complete all preparations in a timely manner to ensure the event's success. This campaign would continue for the next three months, and it was going to be a decisive battle against Chitta. He stated that the state government was committed to completely eradicating the Chitta and no person involved in this trade would be spared.
The Chief Minister stated that, following the state-level anti-Chitta walkathon, various events against it would also be organised at the district and sub-divisional levels. The Cabinet members, all MLAs, and prominent individuals from society would also participate in these events.
Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari gave detailed information about various preparations for the walkathon.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary K.K. Pant, Additional Chief Secretary Shyam Bhagat Negi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, OSD Gopal Sharma and other senior officers were present in Shimla while Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of various districts joined the meeting virtually.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, CM Sukhu reviewed the ongoing projects of the Tourism Department and stated that Rs. 460 crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries for land acquisition for the expansion of Kangra Airport, while another Rs. 1,899 crore is ready for disbursement, according to the release.
