Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], November 8 : As winter approaches, the apparel sellers in Hyderabad say their sales have dipped this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to ANI, Pramod Pani, winter clothing seller said, "We come from Odisha every year to sell winter clothes here. We get the stock from Punjab and sell it in Hyderabad. Every year by this time we used to have really good sales with people buying winter wears from us in an affordable price range. But this year, the sales are not as expected due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. The people are afraid to step out of their houses."
Pani continued saying, this winter, people must take care of themselves and take proper precautions.
"If the public steps forward and come here to buy the cloths by taking all the precautions, this would help sellers like us to earn our living," he added
Mohammed Aaruh, a customer, said, "I come here every year to buy winter clothes but this year due to Corona pandemic, we cannot see any crowd. As compared to that of last year, it is clearly visible that there are no sales at all."
He further added that due to the pandemic people and their lives have been affected majorly.
In the first place, the coronavirus pandemic affected the lives of the people and then there was a complete lockdown. To add to this, the recent heavy rains followed by floods have also affected the lives of people. People are facing a money crunch.
Azeez, another customer said, "This year, I could not buy much winter clothes. This pandemic has affected everyone, from sellers to buyers. Earlier even the shopkeeps used to sell products at high prices and at fixed rates, but this year they are selling them at a very low price saying that, it is good to sell at least something rather than not selling at all."
