"IndiGo management is crooked, government to blame": Sena UBT MP Arvind Sawant

Dec 08, 2025

New Delhi [India], December 8 : Sena UBT MP Arvind Sawant on Monday criticized IndiGo's management over recent flight cancellations, calling their practices "crooked" and accusing the airline of misleading passengers.
He also held the government, rather than the DGCA, largely responsible for the disruption and expressed concern over soaring ticket prices affecting common travelers.
Speaking to ANI, Sawant said, "IndiGo's management is highly crooked. I've experienced it myself... They're total turncoats. I've seen how they lie... I don't believe it's the DGCA's fault. They told them 18 months ago that they had to do it later. Yet, at that time, they held the entire nation hostage, and the government is more responsible for that. What can the common citizen of the country do? The economy class ticket from Mumbai to Delhi costs Rs 62,000... This looting is going on. Everyone else is watching..."
His comments come amid continued delays and cancellations across IndiGo's network, leaving passengers stranded at airports nationwide.
Earlier today, IndiGo officials said a Crisis Management Group (CMG), set up on December 4, is meeting daily to monitor the ongoing disruption.
The CMG was constituted during the first meeting on December 4 and has been meeting daily to closely monitor all matters related to the current situation.
The officials highlighted that the CMG's key priorities include restoring 100 percent operational integrity, ensuring the timely flow of information, expediting refunds and rescheduling of flights, and facilitating the return of passenger baggage.
"We continue to work around the clock to bring the network back to full capacity," IndiGo officials said.
