Inter-state weapon supply gang busted in Punjab's Khanna, 3 arrested

Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], September 11 : Khanna Police arrested three individuals and seized 15 weapons by busting an interstate weapon supply gang in Punjab's Ludhiana district. The weapon supplier has been arrested from Madhya Pradesh, officials said on Monday. 
"In a major breakthrough, Khanna Police busted an Inter-State weapon supply gang, 3 members arrested and 15 weapons seized The weapon supplier has been arrested from Madhya Pradesh," the Punjab Police said in a post on 'X'.
A special drive was launched to nab the criminals supplying weapons at the inter-state level by Ludhiana Range Inspector General of Police Kaustubh Sharma and Khanna Senior Superintendent of Police Amneet Kondal. 10 grams of heroin, 15 pistols, five magazines and 12 cartridges were recovered in the operation, a press release from the Senior Superintendent of Police of Khanna Police District stated.
On September 4, while patrolling, the Khanna police noticed a young man, who started running away, after seeing the police party. The suspect was rounded up by the police party and was questioned. On questioning, he revealed his name as Vishal Kumar. 
During checking, 10 grams of Heroin was recovered and an FIR was registered. During the investigation of the case and revelations made by the accused, one pistol .315 bore was recovered and subsequent addition of Section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act was made in the concerned FIR.
Further investigation and establishment of forward and backward linkages revealed that the accused bought these pistols from one Virpal Singh Tony who was then mentioned in the FIR. After obtaining an arrest warrant from the Honorable court, the Khanna Police Party arrested the said accused from Khargaon Madhya Pradesh on September 8 and recovered 11 pistols .32 bore from his possession.
The accused Virpal Singh is a weapon manufacturer and a close relative to Takdeer Singh who was arrested by Khanna Police two months back with the recovery of four pistols .32 bore and eight magazines. Virpal Singh has been taken on police remand and further linkages are being established.
In another case on September 6, the police party of Sadar Khanna police station was patrolling a service road near Bhadla to check for suspicious persons. While patrolling, they noticed a young man, who got nervous on seeing the Police party and started running. The suspect was rounded up by the Police Party and was questioned.
On questioning, he revealed his name as, Muhammad Yasin. During checking, one pistol .32 bore along with two magazines and another pistol of .9 mm along with three magazines and 12 cartridges were recovered and an FIR was registered. The accused Muhammad Yasin has been taken on Police remand and further linkages are being established.
