Malaysia women's hockey team arrives in Ranchi with eyes set on their maiden Asian Champions Trophy title

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], October 24 : A wave of anticipation and excitement engulfed Ranchi today as the Malaysia women's hockey team landed at the Birsa Munda Airport, ready to kick off their campaign at the Women's Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023.
The team received a warm and spirited welcome, setting the stage for their campaign in the prestigious tournament.
While Malaysia are yet to secure the Women's Asian Champions Trophy title, they enter this edition with high hopes and an unwavering determination to make history. Their best finish in the tournament came in 2013 when they claimed the third spot.
The Malaysian squad, renowned for their skill and versatility on the field, is eager to showcase their abilities and challenge the traditional powerhouses of Asian women's hockey. The Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023 promises to be a battleground for fierce competition, and Malaysia aims to be a prominent contender.
Malaysia will commence their campaign in this esteemed tournament with a challenging encounter against defending champions Japan on October 27. This matchup is highly anticipated and is expected to set the tone for a thrilling competition.
"Our welcome in Ranchi has been wonderful; in fact, it's one of the best receptions that we have received. We are looking forward to playing against India as it's their home ground. We are excited to play in this tournament as it will help our young team to gain good exposure which will help them prepare for future challenges," Malaysia Coach Nasihin Ibrahim said as quoted by Hockey India.
Further speaking on the team's strategy in the tournament, Ibrahim said, "We will focus on one game at a time and prepare accordingly to get results in our favour."
Meanwhile, Malaysia Captain Juliani Din commented, "We have prepared well for the tournament and the recently played Asian Games also helped us in gearing up for this tournament. We will focus on playing our natural game and aim to give our best. Also, we are excited to play against India as they are a very good side and will enjoy the home crowd advantage, so I believe it will be a good competition between both teams."
