MP CM Mohan Yadav formally starts "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign on Environment Day, plants sapling

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 5 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participated in a program centred on World Environment Day at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre (Minto Hall) in Bhopal on Thursday and formally started "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign on the occasion.
Additionally, CM Yadav also planted a sapling on the premises of the convention centre under the campaign. As the theme of Environment Day this year is "Putting an End to Plastic Pollution", many important steps related to environmental protection were observed during the program keeping it in mind.
The Chief Minister further launched an Integrated Environment Management System (IEMS) portal. Along with this, he also released the Wetland Atlas prepared by the State Wetland Authority and study material based on environmental management on the occasion.
During the program, the "Madhya Pradesh Annual Environment Awards" were given to the individuals and institutions doing remarkable work in the field of environment by the state government. Along with this, scholarships were also granted to PhD students doing research in the field of environment.
Addressing the program, CM Yadav highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" and said, "This message is going to increase sensitivity towards the importance of trees and environmental protection. Trees have been given special importance in our scriptures and traditions too. 100 sons are equal to one tree, this shows how important a tree is in life. We also know that trees have life."
He further recalled the great scientist Jagdish Chandra Bose and said that he scientifically proved that "plants also have life."
CM Yadav also extended greetings to the people of the state on World Environment Day and Ganga Dussehra and appealed everyone to actively participate in protection of the environment.
Furthermore, speaking to reporters, CM Yadav said, "I extend my greetings to the people of the state and country on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra. Today, we have tried to award various people and organisations working in the environment sector. We took the resolution of PM Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, and planted a sapling on the premises of Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre to start the campaign which will continue throughout the monsoon season."
He further stressed that life exist in nature and environment and Jagdish Chandra Bose brought the fact before the world that plants also have life.
"We have to save water, trees and live life with discipline to protect nature. Let us resolve on this environment day that we should develop a habit of living by protecting nature," he added.
