Mumbai: Anti-Narcotics Cell seizes drugs worth Rs 1.18 crore; four held

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 14 : The Bandra Unit of Mumbai's Anti Narcotics Cell arrested four drug peddlers from the Santa Cruz area and recovered drugs worth Rs 1.18 crore from them, said Mumbai police in a press release on Saturday.
As per the release, the value of seized drugs in the international market is Rs 1.18 crore.
According to the press release, the police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the accused and they were produced in the court where the court sent the accused to police custody.
The press release mentioned that the police had received information that some people were going to come to smuggle drugs near Trumpet Sky Lounge and Club Bombay located in the Santa Cruz area, after which the police laid a trap and seized a total of 2.65 kg of drugs from the accused.
Further investigation, to reveal the source from where the drugs came and the target destination of the drugs, is underway, said the official statement.
Earlier this month, Mumbai police in an operation, seized drugs worth Rs 31 lakh from Mumbai's Mankhurd area under the Trambe police station and arrested two accused.
The accused were identified as Nadeem Mohammad Idris Shah and Akshay Lakshman Vaghmare.
A case was registered against the two accused under the NDPS Act at Mumbai's Trambe police station.
