Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 24: The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Kolkata Chapter, conferred the prestigious 'Visionary Leadership & Philanthropy Award' upon Shri Ravindra Chamaria, Chairman and Managing Director of Infinity Group, at its 56th Annual General Meeting ceremony held at the Saturday Club in Kolkata on August 23, 2026. Presented in the presence of renowned Tabla Maestro Pandit Tanmoy Bose alongside PRSI leadership, the honour recognises Shri Chamaria's distinguished journey of combining business excellence with social purpose, sustainable development, and impactful community leadership.
A first-generation entrepreneur, Shri Ravindra Chamaria pioneered Kolkata's IT and green real estate landscape through marquee developments and also developed Krishna Bhumi within a sprawling 110 acres Township in Vrindavan - built around world's tallest Krishna Temple. His philanthropic commitments extend to organisations including the Akshaya Patra Foundation, Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata, The Jaipur Foot, Udayan Care Kolkata Chapter, Round Table India and Vidya Bharati, among others.
His visionary contributions to institution-building and national growth have earned widespread academic recognition, including an Honorary Doctorate of Letters (D.Litt.) from Techno India University in July 2026 and an Honorary Ph.D. in Management from ASBM University, Odisha, in 2025. Accepting the award, Shri Ravindra Chamaria expressed gratitude to the PRSI Kolkata Chapter and reaffirmed his dedication to societal progress:

The 56th AGM of the PRSI Kolkata Chapter was graced by Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Parliamentary Affairs and Department of Tourism, who was present as a distinguished guest. Dr. Ghosh appreciated the vital role of public relations in every field of governance and emphasized that the image and orientation of the new government need to be improvised with vision, highlighting the relevance of communication and public relations across all spheres. He also stated the importance of a new orientation in the planning and implementation of government policies.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ghosh announced from the stage that the new logo of the state Tourism Department is set to be unveiled on September 4 2026. Outlining plans to give the tourism sector a new look under his leadership, the Tourism Minister highlighted four key priorities: promoting eco-friendly tourism, increasing revenue generation, creating employment opportunities, and developing a positive outlook among tourists. He further mentioned tourism planning tailored for the lower-middle-class section of society, with an emphasis on infrastructure development.

In addition to these announcements, the PRSI Kolkata Chapter launched a 'No Honking' awareness campaign during the occasion carrying the central message--'Less Noise, More Courtesy'. The campaign aims to reduce unnecessary honking on Kolkata's roads, particularly around sensitive zones like schools, hospitals, residential neighbourhoods, and busy intersections, while promoting responsible civic behaviour. PRSI Kolkata Chapter Vice-Chairman Aninda Das noted that urban noise pollution is often overlooked and the campaign encourages people to pause and think before honking. Chapter Chairman Soumyajit Mahapatra added that a quieter city is more comfortable and that 'No Honking' is a matter of traffic discipline and courtesy.
The programme also featured a special musical presentation of 'Vande Mataram' performed by Kolkata Calling. Chapter Chairman Mahapatra noted that the performance was intended to celebrate shared pride and the spirit of unity that connects everyone.
