Dec 30, 2025

New Delhi [India], December 30 : Congress MP Sasikanth Senthil on Tuesday said that a "very bad narrative" is being made against Tamil Nadu after a video allegedly showing four youths attacking an Odisha migrant worker aboard a train travelling from Chennai to Tiruttani made rounds on the internet, ensuring stringent action against the culprit.
Highlighting the nature of the brutal assault, the Congress MP said, "The incident that you are talking about was not done because he was a migrant worker... It was a case of where, in an inebriated state, this guy was doing something wrong..."
'Underscoring the state's collaborative effort to protect visitors and workers, Senthil said, "I am giving you an open invitation to come to Tamil Nadu, and you will witness the kind of camaraderie the migrant workers and others are having."
Further condemning the act, Senthil said, "From the CM to the bottom-most person, everyone is condemning this act...It is one of the safest places because the culture and the government are with the people of this country."
Speaking to ANI, the Congres MP assured of "stringent action" against the wrongdoers. "The most stringent action will be taken against this person who has done that," Senthil asserted.
Senthil's remarks come after Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay strongly criticised the Tamil Nadu government over the assault, earlier in the day, saying the incident reflected the administration's failure to safeguard young people and curb rising drug abuse.
In a post on X, Vijay described the incident as a "dangerous future" that exposed the administration's failure to guide youth away from destructive paths and curb narcotics circulation.
He alleged that the administration had shown indifference towards the growing challenges faced by the youth, including drug abuse, lack of educational opportunities, unemployment, and the absence of support for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Tiruvallur district police acted swiftly, apprehending all four juvenile school dropouts from areas near Tiruttani on December 28 using the viral video and public tips.
Speaking to the media, Inspector General of Police (North Zone) Asra Garg said that the Juvenile Justice Board has directed the three accused to be placed in a juvenile home while handing one of them over to the parents.
"An unfortunate incident happened on the 27th of December wherein a 20-year-old boy from Odisha was assaulted by four boys... All were minors... They have videotaped this whole incident, and they have further put it on social media as well. Immediately, the victim was provided medical treatment in three different government hospitals... An FIR was registered in the appropriate sections, including attempt to murder, which is the highest section for this type of offence. Teams were formed, promptly securing these four CICLs... All four were apprehended and duly produced before the juvenile justice board, and it directed three to be placed in a juvenile home, and one of them was released and handed over to the parents..," IG Garg said.
