Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 17 : BRS Working President KT Rama Rao,also known as KTR, on Thursday, issued a strong warning to the Telangana Police, stating that the people of Telangana are closely monitoring the current administration's actions and "terrible precedents" being set.
KTR emphasised that no government lasts forever and promised to review every action of the administration when BRS returns to power.
His comments came after the arrest of BRS social media supporter Durgam Shashidhar. He was arrested again allegedly by police, even after getting bail in a previous case. This has caused anger among BRS party members.
Reacting to KTR, Telangana Congress leader Sama Ram Mohan reddy told ANI, "We do have full faith in Judiciary and like Telangana people are looking for when this family is going to be behind bars because of the massive corruption they did in last ten years during their tenure unlike their administration we never kidnapped the journalists, sending police in civil dress. We are law abiding citizens. Law will take its course. Anybody violates the law are held liable."
In a post on X, BRS working president retweeting BRS Leader Konatham dileep and wrote, "Dear @TelanganaDGP Garu...Telangana people are observing all the excesses of the administration and the terrible precedents being set. Please remember no one is going to remain in Govt forever. Our day shall come again and I promise you, every action will be reviewed We have full faith in judiciary and we will continue to fight and defend our democratic rights."
Furthernore, BRS leader Konatham Dileep in a post on X said, "Yesterday evening, as soon as the time for Shashidhar Goud's release came, a police team from Ramagundam arrived to arrest him again. However, seeing many people waiting outside the jail for Shashidhar, they turned back.
"But this morning, the Ramagundam police arrested Shashi again from Karimnagar jail in another illegal case. For merely retweeting tweets posted on the BRS party handle, this government has been filing consecutive cases, keeping him in jail for 16 days, and harassing him," he wrote in a post.
"The retweeted tweet contained only political criticism. There was no obscenity or falsehood in it. Even in military dictatorships, such oppression would not exist! But the Telangana Congress government is depriving people of their civil rights and freedom of expression!" he later added.
