Amethi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 12 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath on Sunday took a dig at the Congress government over its stance on "redistribution of wealth" and said that the Congress party's eyes are on the property of the public.
Addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, Yogi Adityanath said, "The Congress, SP, and BSP divided Hindus on the basis of caste, then divided them on the basis of region and language, and now their eyes are on your property".
Further hitting ou at the opposition, CM Yogi said, "Only two people are opposing PM Modi from becoming the Prime Minister, who are the two people? One is Ram Drohi and the other is Pakistan. Even Pakistan is not liking it because, during Congress rule, when there used to be blasts, they used to say, it is from cross border. Now the terror is so much within Pakistan, that whenever there are blasts, they themselves clarify that they aren't involved. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, this is 'New India'. Ye Chhedta nahi hai, lekin koi Chhedta hai to usko Chhodta bhi nahi hai.."
Earlier, Chairman of Indian Overseas Congress Sam Pitroda advocated redistribution of wealth and inheritance tax law in the country. Emphasing the need for policy towards wealth redistribution, Pitroda elaborated on the concept of inheritance tax prevailing in America.
"In America, there is an inheritance tax. If one has USD 100 million worth of wealth and when he dies he can only transfer probably 45 per cent to his children, 55 per cent is grabbed by the government. That's an interesting law. It says you in your generation, made wealth and you are leaving now, you must leave your wealth for the public, not all of it, half of it, which to me sounds fair," Pitroda said.
"In India, you don't have that. If somebody is worth 10 billion and he dies, his children get 10 billion and the public gets nothing...So these are the kinds of issues people will have to debate and discuss. When we talk about redistributing wealth, we are talking about new policies and new programs that are in the interest of the people and not in the interest of the super-rich only," he added.
