New Delhi [India], October 13 : A two-day mega parent-teacher meeting (PTM) across all schools under the Delhi government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) began on Thursday. The PTM is being organised over two days to help parents attend it at their convenience, according to officials.
Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Thursday said that the parents have played a vital role in "Delhi's education revolution".
"We are happy that a joint Mega PTM is being organised in all schools under the Delhi Government and MCD. This time, we are conducting a PTM for two days, so that a maximum number of parents are able to attend this. In the last 8 years, parents have played a vital role in Delhi's education revolution," Atishi said.
The Delhi Education Minister and Deputy Mayor of MCD Aaley Mohd Iqbal interacted with parents and students during the parent-teacher meeting.
A circular issued by the Delhi Government's Directorate of Education (DoE) said that parents and teachers are the two vital pillars responsible for all-round development of a child.
"Therefore, the interaction between them is indispensable for the betterment of the academic performance of students," stated the circular.
Calling the parent-teacher meeting an important platform to facilitate this interaction, the circular added that longer duration would help more parents attend it.
The first-ever parent-teacher meeting across all Delhi government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools was conducted in May this year.
That time, parent-teacher meetings were held in over 1,500 MCD schools and 1,000 Delhi government schools.
After it came to power in the civic body, the Aam Aadmi Party said it would bring MCD schools at par with those of the Delhi government. Implementing Mission Buniyaad, which focuses on promoting foundational literacy among younger students, and regular PTMs in MCD schools are part of its plans in this direction.
