Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 2 : Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and MLA Ashish Shelar accused former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray of having his hands stained with the blood of Ram bhakt Karsevak Kothari brothers since the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief has joined hands with the Samajwadi Party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
"The Kothari brothers who sacrificed themselves for the Ram Temple were murdered by Mulayam Singh's Samajwadi Party. And, Uddhav Thackeray has joined hands with the Samajwadi Party, whose hands are stained with the blood of Rambhakt Karsevak Kothari brothers. This means even his hands are bloodstained," Ashish Shelar said while speaking to media persons at a press conference in Mumbai.
When asked about Uddhav Thackeray's visit to Delhi, Ashish Shelar said that the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief who used to summon everyone to his residence, Matoshree when he was the Chief Minister is now ready to bow down to anyone just to win their seats.
"When Uddhav Thackeray was with us, he used to show arrogance and call us over to his bungalow. See how he is rushing to Delhi today. Let him go to Delhi and bow down before anyone. Maharashtra is observing everything. Today, Thackeray's Shiv Sena group is going around the country asking for help to win their seats," Shelar said.
Taking on Uddhav Thackeray for severing ties with the BJP, Shelar said when the undivided Shiv Sena was their partner, the BJP had shown respect for the Thackeray family but Uddhav was selfish and greedy for claiming the Chief Minister's post for himself.
"...When they were with us, the BJP had retained the honour and self-respect of the Thackeray family. But Uddhav Thackeray showed his greed for power and his selfishness for claiming the position of the Chief Minister," Shelar said.
Speaking about his party's meeting ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Ashish Shelar said that nationwide tour plans will be undertaken by the BJP.
"One leader for three Lok Sabha constituencies has been decided and accordingly, nation-wide tour plans have been scheduled in which national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will hold meetings by forming clusters of three to four Lok Sabhas across the country," Shelar said.
Shelar also said that a meeting of those who will be overseeing the actual election process will be held in Mumbai.
"A meeting of those who will be overseeing the actual election process in every Legislative Assembly constituency will be held in Mumbai. The aim is to reach the grass-roots level of the organisation," he said.
On being asked by reporters on the meeting by the Sharad Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shelar said that the NCP founder needs to clarify the number of MLAs, MPs and district presidents in his party and see whether it is a party or just a group.
"Sharad Pawar must first clarify as to how many MLAs, MPs and district presidents he has in his party. Also, whether it is a party or just a group. Both Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar will have to come to terms with the fact that what they are left with is a mere group and not a party," Shelar said.
