Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], October 13 : Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday expressed 'empathy' for the residents of RR Nagar Assembly constituency over their choice of MLA, BJP's Muniratnam Naidu, claiming the difficult conditions faced by people under his leadership.
Speaking during a public interaction as part of the 'Bengaluru Nadige' programme at JP Park in Mattikere, Shivakumar said, "When we look at the attitude and behaviour of MLA Muniratnam Naidu, I understand you are living in hell. I can understand your frustration for electing an MLA like this."
Expressing unhappiness over the obstruction of his public interaction programme by the followers of MLA Muniratnam Naidu, he said, "Muniratnam Naidu doesn't have patience. It is his nature to obstruct others' programmes. I know that you feel sad that you have chosen an MLA like this. Give him the right reply when the time comes," Shivakumar added.
The Deputy Chief Minister further emphasised the role of the electorate in deciding the future of their representative. "The people must decide if they would like to retain an MLA like Muniratnam Naidu. I am not going to talk about it. I am aware of the respect that needs to be given to a people's representative, but neither victory nor loss is permanent in politics," he stated.
