"We have always taken donations with complete transparency": AAP

May 20, 2024

New Delhi [India], May 20 : After the Enforcement Directorate wrote a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs stating that the Aam Aadmi Party has violated the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) while receiving foreign donations, Delhi Minister Atishi on Monday said that the AAP since its formation, has taken donations with complete transparency, adding that the allegations levelled against it reflect yet another "BJP conspiracy".
Addressing a press conference, Delhi Minister Atishi said, "The BJP has brought a new conspiracy via the ED. The ED has written a letter to the MHA stating that we have received a donation by the wrong means from abroad. Since the time AAP was formed, we have taken donations with complete transparency. The BJP can make as many allegations as they want, but the people of Delhi and Punjab will answer these allegations. This is a matter that is many years old and the AAP has already given answers to ED, CBI, IT and ECI."
Atishi said that the BJP has always been afraid of Arvind Kejriwal's people-centric policies in the last 10 years and the action taken by the Enforcement Directorate in this matter points towards that.
"Since 2014, there has been a rise in inflation, no reduction in corruption. BJP knows that people are angry with them. BJP fear Kejriwal as he has fulfilled promises in Delhi and Punjab. Since the announcement of the elections, Kejriwal has been put behind bars in a fraud case. But the people and the Supreme Court were standing by the truth. They used Swati Maliwal to make allegations against Arvind Kejriwal but now footage shows that all allegations she made in FIR were blatant lies," she said.
Also addressing the press conference, AAP leader Sandeep Pathak said that the people of the country are fed up with the dirty politics of the BJP.
"The people have now made up their minds to bid them farewell. Prime Minister, do good politics. You have been the Prime Minister of the country for 10 years but you do not have 10 work to make it count. The matter that the BJP's ED is raising today is an old matter and in this regard, the police have already filed an affidavit in the High Court saying that there is nothing wrong in it. In fact, whenever the BJP sees its defeat, it raises such old and fake cases and does dirty politics," Pathak said.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court is scheduled to pass judgement on Tuesday, in the bail petitions moved by Manish Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, in connection with ED and CBI cases related to the Delhi Excise Policy case.
Recently, the bench of Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma reserved the order on Sisodia's bail petitions in both the matter being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate and the Enforcement Directorate.
Sisodia has been in custody since February 26, 2023, after arrest by the CBI. Thereafter, he was arrested by the ED. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and BRS Leader K Kavitha were also arrested in the excise policy case.
The ED and the CBI had alleged that irregularities were committed while modifying the excise policy, undue favours were extended to licence holders, the licence fee was waived or reduced and the L-1 licence was extended without the competent authority's approval.
