20 cadres from four rebel groups surrender with arms before Manipur CM

Imphal (Manipur), March 9 (ANI): 20 cadres from different outfits surrendered their arms in the presence of Chief Minister of Manipur Nongthombam Biren Singh during a Homecoming Ceremony on March 09 at the Banquet Hall, 1st Bn Manipur Rifles in Imphal.Of the surrendered cadres, 16 belong to Thadou People’s Liberation Army (TPLA), 2 are from United Liberation Front (UNLF), 1 from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), and 1 is from People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPARK). The cadres also handed over 15 arms and 75 assorted ammunitions including AK-56 Rifle, M15 rifle, MK33 rifle, SMG, lathode, Glock 19 pistol, 06.9mm pistols, .32 pistols and a .22 pistol. Under the revised scheme for Surrender-Cum-Rehabilitation of militants in the Northeast states, 2018 of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), benefits are given to them including a one-time financial grant of Rs 4 lakh to each cadre, which is to be kept in a bank, in their respective name as fixed deposit for 3 years. The surrenderees will stay in a rehabilitation camp for three years during which they will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 6,000 for three years.
