All convicts must be executed on Feb 01: Nirbhaya’s mother on fresh ‘juvenile’ petition

New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): Reacting to the special leave petition (SLP) filed by one of the convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape, Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi said that if all the accused committed the crime; they all should be punished equally and demanded that all the convicts must be executed on February 01. “This is our law that has given freedom to them to commit such crimes and then when it comes to punishment, juvenile is exempted,” said Asha Devi. “It is just a tactic to delay the execution. His petition was cancelled in 2013 by SC. Review petition was also dismissed by the court. He's doing it just to waste time. But all the convicts must be executed on 1 Feb only. This is not just about Nirbhaya but thousands of girls who are fighting for their justice,” she added further. Convict Pawan Gupta filed a SLP in the Supreme Court, claiming he was a juvenile at the time of the crime, and should be treated as such.
