Amritsar grain growers get another headache amid lockdown curbs

Amritsar (Punjab), Apr 22 (ANI): Grain farmers in Amritsar are facing hardship to sell their crops. Farmers claimed that the moisture measuring machine at the ‘mandi’ is not measuring the right moisture contents of grains. A farmer in Amritsar, Charanjeet, said, “We checked the moisture content of grain at home, it was 12 that time but now at ‘mandi’ it shows 13. We had e-pass for one day only, now we have to wait for next 4 to 5 days for get another e-pass, what will happen to our crop during this time?” Procurement of grains has been started after centre’s new guidelines in the wake of COVID-19. However, farmers are still facing several issues to sell their crop.
