Around 305 NRIs depart for UK from Amritsar airport amid lockdown

Amritsar (Punjab), May 10 (ANI): Amid coronavirus lockdown, around 305 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) departed for United Kingdom on May 10. The NRIs departed from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar. The UK citizens left in a special British Airways flight. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India crossed 62,500-mark. “My flight was cancelled because of COVID-19. I really appreciate to the British Government that they arranged flights for us,” a NRI said. “Because of lockdown, we have to stay here a bit longer. We thank British Government for taking us back,” another NRI said.
