Assam floods: Villagers living in temporary shelters fear of place to be washed away in Dibrugah

Dibrugarh (Assam), July 23 (ANI): Flood has wreaked havoc parts of Assam. Due to flood, several areas have been submerged in water. Water has entered in Rongmola and Miri villages in Dibrugarh. The villagers who flee away and survived are now living in relief camp in Dibrugarh. 95 families are living in temporary shelters after Rangamola and Miri villages in Dibrugarh were washed away in floodwaters. However, it is said that this land will also submerged in water if level of Brahmaputra continues to rise. “I used to live in a ‘basti’, which is about 3 kilometer away from here, the ‘basti’ submerged in flood water due soil erosion and now this camp is also in danger, it may going to submerged in water in next one or half months,” said a local, who survived in flood. The floods in Assam have affected 26 districts and claimed 89 lives till July 22, said the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
