CBI registers FIR in Manipur viral video case

Imphal (Manipur), July 29 (ANI): Ministry of Home Affairs referred Manipur viral video case to the Central Bureau of Investigation on July 29. Following MHA’s reference, CBI registered FIR in Manipur viral video case, as per CBI official. Earlier this month, a 2-month-old video showing two women being paraded naked by a mob sparked massive outrage. After the horrific video went viral, the police swung into action and arrested seven people, including the main accused. Manipur has been witnessing ethnic violence since early May after Kukis protested Meitei community’s demand for ST status. As per sources, Centre also held several rounds of talks with members of the Kuki and Meitei communities. The government sources also told that law and order situation is improving in the ethnic-clash-hit state.
