Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday led statewide celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of India’s national song, Vande Mataram. At the Gujarat Legislative Assembly in Gandhinagar, he joined Speaker Shankarbhai Chaudhary and dignitaries in a collective rendition of the song and a ‘Swadeshi Pledge’. Calling Vande Mataram “the resonance of India’s soul and the sacred sound of patriotism,” Patel recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words describing it as “the royal path of development and the heartbeat of freedom.” Similar events were held across all districts, with officials and citizens participating. Originally composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875 and later set to music by Rabindranath Tagore, Vande Mataram remains a timeless symbol of unity and self-reliance.
