Puri (Odisha), June 04, 2026 (ANI): Addressing the Second Technical Meeting of the BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Working Group in Puri, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi on June 04 highlighted the importance of resilience, preparedness, technology, and partnerships in strengthening disaster management efforts. He said Odisha is committed to transforming the vision of disaster risk reduction into action by building stronger systems, infrastructure, and communities through prevention and readiness. “The agenda for Disaster Risk Reduction provides a strong framework focused on resilience, preparedness, technology and partnerships. Odisha is committed to translating this vision into action by strengthening systems, infrastructures and communities through prevention and readiness… We must connect climate science, planning and technology with governance and local action… We must strengthen efforts to address heatwaves, lightning, and coastal erosion through science, awareness and early action… Odisha’s progress rests on preparedness and community participation, yet future challenges will require greater effort and stronger cooperation. The BRICS platform requires an excellent opportunity to collaborate on early warning systems, resilient infrastructure, climate adaptation and capacity building…” said Mohan Charan Majhi.
